New year, new horizons
So here we are – it’s 2016 and winds of change are in the air. As some of you may be aware, I have been working for a gaming website called Dealspwn for the past five years. It’s been an amazing experience that has allowed me to work with some fantastic people, meet many of my favourite developers, and play new and exciting games. However, it closed its doors last night. It’s sad that my time in the Dealspwn Citadel is finally over, but now, to quote The Rolling Stones (or Soup Dragons, depending on your musical tastes) I’m free, to do what I want, any old time.
And by that, I mean that Digital Outburst is about to get a whole lot busier.
I’ve kicked things off by bringing over some of my old articles from Dealspwn, with more to follow in the next few days, but it’s not just my reviews and articles from yesteryear that you’ll find on here. Oh no, there are plans afoot, and I’m here to share them with you. Over the next few weeks I’m going to continue to do articles and reviews here on Digital Outburst I always have done, but I’m also going to be bringing back my regular video content as well. With other responsibilities no longer being an issue, it means I have more time to do what I what, and that includes taking a rather unique step into the world of streaming.
On top of this, I’m going to be bringing in a few people I know to help with content here on DO (some of which will be introduced in a video in the very near future.) While the main focus will of course be gaming – I do love it, after all – we’re also going to allow for other topics of a geek-based nature as well, should we feel the urge to write something. We ultimately want to make DO a one-stop geekfest, but it’s early days yet. For now, we’re just finding our footing in a fairly exciting venture, and I very much appreciate you being here at the start of it all.
It’s going to a lot of hard work without the support of a network that has had to deal with my cavalier approach to most things (the word “maverick” is used a lot these days, but they never once referred to me as that… the swines) but I’m damn well going to do my best to continue the legacy of Dealspwn’s editorial content. In short, I’m going to keep posting honest, informative, and entertaining content on the things we love.
And there may be terrible Christopher Walken / Mickey Mouse impressions along the way. Look, you have to deal with the bad to get to the good.
